Bridal Shower Invites: Send Digital Ones with Smilebox

Another digital invite by Smilebox

While most of us still send out paper bridal shower invites, there are other options especially now that even most of our grandmothers have e-mail and Facebook.  Digital or e-mail invites can be just as glam and even more eco-friendly.  Of course, digital invites can also save you money-no need to buy postage!

We particularly like the designs from Smilebox.  With Smilebox, you can  easily create invitations.  You can pick from thousand of templates, add photos you want to use, add music and voila, you've made a Smilebox!  What sets Smilebox apart though is that it gives you more ways to share than other digital invite sites: Facebook, email, blog, printing at home or to a store, and burning to DVD.

Tip:  Printing is a nice option because you can then use the invite for scrapbooks or as a memento.  It's the best of both worlds.

Bridal Shower Invites from Wedding Paper Divas

When we think of Wedding Paper Divas, we think of weddings of course-their invitations, save the dates, and thank you cards are gorgeous and perfect for so many different types of themes.  However, until recently we didn't realize how extensive their collection of bridal shower invitations are.

Among the gems:

Love this invite-how perfect for a bridal showers where the focus is on cooking.  The apron is just so cute. This is also part of a line where invites can be as low as $.69 each; granted you do need to order quite a few to get the .69 rate but it's still a great deal.

Or look at this  unique bridal shower invitation-the die cut circle shape alone is unique and trendy. We love the happy couple on the front and the romantic words on the back.   This invite stands out though in a world of cutesy invitations.

We also love this stunning silhouette of a kissing couple for a wedding shower invite. The design is simple and timeless and, of course, silhouettes are very trendy right now.

This is just a sampling of the invites available from Wedding Paper Divas. We hope you consider thme for the shower you're planning.

How to Save Money on Bridal Shower Invites

1) Don't send any. While not our favorite solution, don't send traditional bridal shower invites out. Instead try making phone calls or sending e-mails. It gets the job done for free.

2) Use our printables. Scan our selection of free printable bridal shower invites and use those. There still is a cost-you do have to print them out. The other downside-you don't have creative control or sometimes a way to personalize them.

3) Get a professional to make the invite. Many graphic designers will send you a personalized custom design that you can then take to a print shop and have printed. (Tip-try the ones on Etsy like Etsy seller kottageon5th.)  The cost advantages can be nice-you get a custom invite for your friend's soirĂ©e that can often be printed for 10 cents a copy.

4) Zazzle-we're biased. We love Zazzle-it's a great publishing platform that allows you to make invites pretty much anyway you want to. Add poems and wording, upload photos, change fonts and colors, you've got plenty of options. You can also search the thousands of pre-made customizable designs they have-try searching for African-American bride or spa-themed shower to give you an idea of the many options. And the price can't be beat.  25 invites will set you back around $44.

DIY: Bridal Shower Photo Invitation

Take a look at this DIY contest finalist over at The Bride's Cafe. An adorable photo of the bride holding an umbrella with the groom next to her holding a sign that states "please join us for a bridal shower honoring" with a finger pointed at the bride. The photo is too cute and Hillary then turned around and put the photo, along with details, on a postcard using Snapfish. The end result-an original bridal shower invite that came out to be $30 for 35 of them.

Punk Bridal Shower Invites? What about Asian or Indian Brides?

We love Zazzle. We do. And luckily we found a great Zazzler, Jill311, who has incredible bridal shower invitations. Using postcards as invites is a great idea-you don't need envelopes so there's less waste and it's cheaper to mail them.

Look at these bridal shower invites. These invites showcase a bunch of ethnically diverse brides-Indian, Asian, African-American, as well as different brides like tattooed brides with pink hair. We love those punk brides! Also be sure to look at the diverse brides like the Indian bride showcased here.

Cinderella Inspired Bridal Shower Invite

Having a Disney themed bridal shower for the bride? Or maybe the bride and groom are getting married at Disney World and you want to reflect that in the shower invitations?

Take a look at these Cinderella inspired bridal shower invites by Zenadia Design. The inside of the invitation reveals the words to the song from Cinderella, “So this is love…” along with all the party details. To finish the design off, the designer added swirls of fairy dust and the pumpkin carriage.

The best part of this invite-it doesn't look cartoonish or childish but instead appropriate for even a couture bridal shower.

Etsy Find: Lingerie Shower Invites by Crazy4Cards

Forget about those boring shower or bachelorette party invites. Take a look at this brilliant find from Etsy.

(Image via Etsy copyright 2008 Kimberly J Kittel)

These lingerie invites are too cute. The Bra is in the front of the card with the panty on the back of the card. To spice the card up, you can add fur to it. Don't worry-there's room to put all the details of the party on it. The price is alright too-just $14.75 for a set of 8. And with these invites, there's no way that the guests will question what the theme of the shower is-there can be no denying that this shower will not be focusing on pots and pans. :) Of course these don't have to be just used for bridal showers-they are also perfect for bachelorette parties. What a great way to let everyone know that the party will be a little naughty.

Crazy4Cards also makes these lingerie cards to use as cards. We love the Santa Baby Hot Hot Pink which would be a great accompaniment with your Victoria's Secret teddy. Frankly these cards are so cute that most of our hubbys wouldn't mind getting one on our anniversaries either.
