Unique Bridal Shower Guestbook or Decoration-Postcard Banner

Image copyrighted-Design Sponge
After seeing this amazing postcard banner from Design Sponge, I began thinking that this could be a great guestbook idea or decoration for a shower too.  All of the instructions can be found here.  (It's a different variation from the lingerie ones people use at lingerie showers.)

So many ways to use this idea!  Some ways:
  • Use photos (the engagement photos, wedding pictures if the party is post-reception, photos of the bride when she was young) as postcards. Or try vintage photos of the couple's relatives.  (Try Zazzle where you can add your own or use pre-designed ones.)
  • Use postcards of where the couple is planning on honeymooning or getting married if its a destination wedding.
  • If you're collecting recipes for the bride, use the recipe cards for the banner.
  • Have guests sign the cards/photos/postcards and use it as a guestbook for the shower. Just hang it up later after everyone has signed it.

What a gift: Money Bouquet

(Image from Swoonoverit)
Look at this money bouquet. We have to admit we never thought of this but it seems so perfect. A bouquet made out of bills-what a creative way to give cash at a bridal shower. Much better than stuffing cash into an envelope with a card saying "Congratulations."

This could be used to give cash as gifts or as a bridal shower decoration or centerpiece.

Want to DIY? Ella Fagan has a great tutorial on how to do a money bouquet. For more variations, look on ehow to find out how to make money roses and Make magazine for another variation on money bouquets.

Inspiration for this post came from Swoonoverit

DIY: Bridal Shower Banner

Martha Stewart has a great FREE DIY template to make hanging banners. Designed for "Just Married" signs, the template works well for banners for bridal showers. The template has the old-fashioned look of being typed by vintage typewriter keys. Hang ones at the shower that say "Congrats Michelle" or "Sarah's Bridal Shower." To hang weave a 1/4-inch ribbon throughout. You can also use the template for Alphabet Showers-sprinkle the letters throughout.

DIY: Tissue Paper Pom Poms

(Image via Casasugar)

We love the tissue paper pom poms. Not only are they cute, but they are perfect for everything. You can use them for centerpieces, as hanging decorations, as chandeliers, tons of uses. And of course you can easily change the colors to match any theme-just use different tissue paper.

So of course we were SO excited to see that Casasugar had this easy-to-follow tutorial on how to make the tissue paper Pom Poms. The best part-the only supplies you need are tissue paper, scissors, monofilament, and floral wire. It's very easy to do and looks really good.

Unique Favor-Make Your Own Bouquets or Arrangements

What a creative idea for a bridal shower favor-Dynamite Weddings had the idea of a floral potluck. What is a floral potluck you ask? According to the website you put together an assortment of different flowers and place them all in lovely containers and large vases. We like the idea of keeping each flower separately, much like how candy is served at candy buffets. At the end of the shower, have items available so guests can create an arrangement for themselves. Every guest gets to leave with flowers!

What items should you have available? Try tissue paper, ribbons, or small vases for guests to use.

What flowers to have? To keep costs down, go for in-season flowers and look for farmer's markets or wholesale florists where you can buy the flowers in bulk. They suggest tulips, gerbera daisies, stargazer lilies, and roses.

Extra touch: Try writing down the name of each flower as well as the meaning of the flower on a notecard/placecard for an extra touch. Try 800florals.com for their extensive list of what flowers mean. For example, Bells of Ireland means Good Luck.
